Later the name changed to the Fischer-Hoffman Process, named after Hoffman and Siegfried Fischer.〔Hoffman, Robert. ''Getting Divorced from Mother & Dad: The Discoveries of the Fischer-Hoffman Process'', Dutton, 1976〕 Formerly a 13-week program, it was changed to an eight-day format in 1985. In 1990, Tim Laurence and Serena Gordon started the Hoffman Process in the UK with the blessing of Bob Hoffman. In 2014 the original 8-day format became a 7-day format.
